Self-Care: Check Yourself…

Have you heard of the acronym H.A.L.T.?  It's an important recovery and self-help tool used in 12-step programs like AA.  H.A.L.T. stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired.

It's actually a great self-care tool that can be helpful to anyone.  Because each one of these 4 physical & mental conditions, if not kept in check, can leave us vulnerable.  Any of these can cause us to fall into bad habits and self-destructive behaviors — eat the wrong things or overeat, lash out at others & start fights, feel depressed or overwhelmed, be irritable & impatient.  And a combination of all of these together would just be out of control!

Today & EveryDay:  Remember to check in with yourself regularly and ask yourself how you're feeling.  Go down the H.A.L.T. list and start to pay attention to what may be working against you.  Stay ahead of it with this very simple tool!
